The OCCA takes the protection of personal data seriously and the  following tells you how we will safeguard your privacy and use  “cookies”.

What personal information do we collect?

We collect the information that you provide for us (if you sign up to our mailing list, for example) and we also use cookies to collect and store anonymous information (see below).

What are “cookies”?

“Cookies” are text files that are downloaded onto a device when users first access a website and they are used to monitor the levels of website use. They do not tell us who you are and they are not used to make adverts pop-up.

What programme do we use?

Our website uses Google Analytics and Analytics 360 (for further information about these see below).

Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”) that uses cookies. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and Internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above.

Analytics 360 is a web analytics programme provided by MailChimp. MailChimp is the programme used by RZIM Europe to send messages out to those on the mailing lists. The analytics software works in conjunction with Google Analytics and it enables us to see how many people have clicked on the different links provided by us.

How do I avoid using cookies?

You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, although this may impair the full-functioning of certain websites that rely upon them.

Do we share your personal information?

We do not share any of your personal information with third parties. We may have to disclose information about you where we have to comply with the law, or to protect or defend our legal rights or those of our users. We will only use your personal data for the purposes specified in this privacy policy or in relevant parts of the website. Occasionally we may use your personal data to send you information that we think will be of interest to you. We will not send you information if you tell us that you do not wish to receive information from us.

What about security?

We take precautions to prevent the loss, alteration or misuse of personal data, although we cannot guarantee the security of data sent via the internet, as the transmission is not 100% secure.

What if I have any concerns about my privacy?
